Browning is an internationally recognized CAMX Award Winners Focus on Infrastructure, Transportation By Sara Black, Senior Editor CompositesWorld e winders of the annual CAMX Awards were announced at the CAMX 2017 General Session on Tuesday. ese awards recognize the cutting-edge innovations that are expected to significantly impact composites and advanced materials in the marketplace. is year's recipients were chosen for concepts and products that show strength through collabo- ration, while bridging low-cost materials/high- volume applications with high-performance applications/low-volume materials that are helping to shape the future of composites in the marketplace. e CAMX Combined Strength Award went to Composite Advantage LLC (Dayton, Ohio) for its GFRP Wicket Gates: Long-lasting Structures to Ensure Navigable Waterways. Many navigable waterways contain locks and dams to maintain water levels necessary to allow vessel passage; a wicket gate is a hinged See CAMX AWARD WINNERS , continued on page 3 Demo Zone Draws Crowds Composites One and Closed Mold Alliance Demo Zone demonstrations always attract an audience at CAMX. Check the demonstration schedule posted near Demo Zone (Booth K32) for times. One of the main attractions of CAMX is the Composites One and Closed Mold Alliance Demo Zone featuring a series of scheduled live demonstrations of closed molding processes, with experts on hand to provide advice for best practices in mold preparation, layup, bagging, resin injection and more. In the Demo Zone this year are representatives from the Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI), Davis Technology— alt Lake City, and Daytona State College.
